Senior Modeling Analyst

The Senior Modeling Analyst is responsible for supporting Basel II / Economic Capital model development/validation efforts across LOBs and executing quality control model testing. This position is part of Corporate Consumer Risk Management group. This work group is primarily responsible for building the credit risk capital models, regulatory compliance for capital models, as well as results monitoring and reporting of all consumer capital exposures within Retail Financial Services and Card Services. This individual may be located in either Columbus, Ohio  

Responsibilities

  • Execute the modeling quality control processes and tests for both Basel II and Economic Capital models.
  • Support the development/validation of probability of default (PD), loss given default (LGD), exposure at default (EAD), through-the-cycle (TTC) and seasoning modeling approaches for both Basel II & EC across all consumer lines of business (LOBs)
  • Contribute to the development of a Monte-Carlo simulation framework for all consumer portfolios working in partnership with the Corporate Quantitative Research group
  • Establish stress testing capabilities for Economic Capital
  • Research modeling approaches around Economic Capital forecasting
  • Support the modeling function with required analysis around various modeling initiatives and applications of the capital models in the areas of capital allocation, pricing, etc.

Credit Risk Analyst

Group Description:
The Credit Risk Management Team (CRM) reports into the Asset Management (AM) Credit Operations Group.  The team monitors all Banking  AM exposures (loans, OTC derivatives, and brokerage margin loans) secured by financial (equities, fixed income, etc) and other asset types.  They manage intraday transactions and exceptions related to secured credit facilities and pledged collateral.  The CRM team is also responsible for global reporting and analytics for portfolio reviews, collateral concentrations (industry, security, country, emerging markets), shortfall trends, derivative exposures, issuer risk, and problem assets.  Additionally, the team is responsible for ensuring compliance with all covenant requirements, including escalation where needed.  The functions performed by this team are critical to protecting the bank from potential credit losses

Job Description:
The analyst will be part of a team with the following responsibilities across the PB domestic portfolio:

  • Review and understand new agreement terms and documentation.
  • Set-up agreement terms regarding collateral in credit systems for ongoing compliance monitoring.  If credit systems cannot support the monitoring of the arrangement, set-up the agreement for monitoring offline.
  • Ensure all pledged assets are blocked from unauthorized utilization.
  • Monitor collateral daily and identify inadequate positions.  Confirm the accuracy and escalate to Credit and Bankers for resolution plan and date determination.
  • Manage requests for intraday transactions and approve if collateral position and/or covenant compliance is adequate.  Intraday transactions are inclusive of cash and security movement within pledged accounts as well as loan and letter of credit draw downs.
  • Consistently communicate with underwriters, bankers, and management to provide current status of the portfolio, highlight key credit risks and provide potential recommendations/next steps for problem resolution.
  • Manage amendments to original agreement terms, including lending value changes,  changes in covenant requirement and ensure they are accurately reflected in credit systems for ongoing compliance monitoring.
  • Manage third party pledge scenarios when the client's exposure secured by assets held externally is internal to JPM.  Regularly update credit system valuations regarding the external assets.
  • Release blocks against pledged assets when agreement terms have been satisfied.
  • Participate in credit system defect identification, UAT testing, and ongoing business requirement discussions.
  • Respond to Hotline enquiries.
  • Manage initiatives to resolve control gaps and enhance current processes for further efficiency and effectiveness as needed. 
  • Provide analysis concerning portfolio as needed.

Exact responsibilities will include the management of a portfolio on a daily basis including rotations for various functions across the CRM team.

Overtime may be required as determined by business.

The analyst will work very closely with Credit Operations leadership, Credit, Capital Advisory, and Bankers to manage collateral and secured and unsecured credit exposure, execute client requests, identify and escalate credit issues, and manage risk.
